- Eighty-six percent of U.S. consumers said they would choose one home over another based on its energy efficiency. However, 78 percent of homeowners said no one mentioned energy efficiency during their purchase process.

- Seventy-nine percent of current homeowners and those planning to buy or build a new home within the next two years were willing to add to the purchase price ($2,897 on average) for energy-efficient features.
- Thirty percent of homeowners said they recently began energy-efficient home improvements, and another 18 percent said they are likely to do so in the near future.
- Eighty-four percent agreed that the best incentive for persuading people to spend money on energy-efficient home improvements is a lower monthly utility billing rate.
