The staffed MRC facility accepts everything that the Curb It!® program takes, plus cardboard, scrap tires, scrap metal, scrap wood and old clothing. You can also pick up recycling bins at this location for any city we serve. For questions about what the MRC accepts customers can ask attendant on duty or call Artistic Waste Services at 262-4040.
About Artistic’s Expanded Collection Programs
Artistic Waste Services offers weekly collection of trash, recycling and yardwaste that is normally generated by single family homes. Occasionally, our residential customers have special disposal needs that include items that they’re not sure how to throw away. Artistic’s expanded collection programs can help you dispose of these items in an environmentally safe and cost effective way.
How Do You Arrange for these Services?
All the programs detailed in this pamphlet are available weekly. The dates and times of the services vary, depending on where you live. Most of the services can be arranged by calling Artistic Waste’s customer service department @ 515-262-4040. A customer service representative will be happy to help you schedule a date and time for service.
 Super Sized Curbside Pickup
This service is for residents that have more trash then your normal pickup allows. It’s like having your own personal spring cleanup. Roughly a pickup size load left curb side can be collected for $75.00. No need to buy tags or stickers – just prearrange payment and set out your material.
 Ultimate House Side Pickup
This program is similar to the curbside pickup but it lets residents leave items in place. Artistic personnel will self load the material, so residents do not have to haul the items curbside. This service is perfect for a garage or basement clean up where moving large items can be a problem. The amount of material a resident can throw away is unlimited. Ultimate house - $75 trip charge plus $15 per yard of material collected.
 Mega Recycling Pickup
If you have moved recently and have large amounts of cardboard or paper that is piling up and you want it recycled, we can help! The Mega recycling pickup lets residents place unlimited amounts of cardboard and paper curbside without breaking them down.
All items must be FREE of Styrofoam, plastic and non recyclable items. The cost is $25.00 per pick up.
 Appliance/White Goods Program
Examples of white goods items are: appliances, refrigerators, stoves, washer’s dryers, dehumidifiers, microwaves, freezers, water heaters, furnaces dishwashers, and air conditioners. These items are banned from landfills and contain CFCs and PCBs that can be dangerous when not properly handled. The cost is $35.00 per appliance.
 Extra Large Yard Waste Collection/Brush Pickup
If you have a large amount of yard waste and don’t want to bundle it and set it out on your normal collection day, this service is for you! Examples would be large brush piles or limbs that you may not want to cut into smaller sections or debris left behind after a storm.
Brush or Yard waste Special pickup $45.00 per pile
 E-Waste Recycling Collection
If you want to recycle your E-Waste products and don’t want to include them in your curbside collection. We strongly encourage responsible management of electronic equipment through recycling: any electric such as TV, Computer monitors, VCR, etc. can be disposed of at our metro Recycling Center @ 1817 W. Euclid in Des Moines. Artistic will also come to your home and pick up such equipment for a fee of $.50 per pound or $20 for a computer unit or $25-40 for a TV.
 Medical Waste
Medical waste such as needles (sharps) can cause problems for family and waste workers who handle them. A safe way to handle sharps is to use an OSHA approved container.
Artistic Waste offers a mail back sharps container that provides the home user and the professional a total system for the safe disposal of sharps waste. Each system includes a sharps container, postage-prepaid return box, tracking form and destruction at a certified recovery facility. Contact Artistic for more information.
